Today, Niagara’s iconic Casino Niagara is celebrating 25 years of gaming action! The 95,000 square-foot venue opened its doors on December 9, 1996 and changed the course of tourism in the city.
Originally constructed as an interim location while a larger venue was in planning, Casino Niagara quickly became a venue for year-round fun and excitement. Establishing a loyal following of visitors from both Canada and the United States, the Casino has welcomed more than 100 million visitors since its opening.
Just the second Casino to open in Ontario at the time (after Casino Windsor in 1994) Casino Niagara’s 1,300 slot machines, 40 gaming tables, and Poker Room remains a popular choice and when the larger Fallsview Casino Resort opened in 2004, and the community rallied to keep Casino Niagara in place. The commitment was repaid with a $12 million renovation in 2005, and $7 million renovation in 2017.
In addition to gaming action spread across two action packed floors, the first Niagara Casino is also home to an eclectic mix of restaurants and dining options including LEV2L Sports Bar & Entertainment. A go-to with 50 HD plasma screens that keeps guests in the action for all of the edge-of-your-seat games!
More than just fun and games, the Casino corporation holds a strong commitment to the community and has supported more than 170 charities and nonprofits within the Niagara Region through financial donations, and employee volunteer hours.
Casino Niagara is situated on Falls Avenue across from Niagara Falls, with indoor connections to the Sheraton Fallsview and Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls-Fallsview Hotels, attractions and restaurants.
Celebrations for the 25th anniversary include a special menu at LEV2L, a social media contest, and Niagara Falls will be lit in green and gold on December 9th at 10:00pm.
