The 2024 Total Solar Eclipse

Niagara Falls, Ontario will be one of the best locations in North America to view the “Great North American Solar Eclipse” on April 8, 2024!
One of the most spectacular events in nature, a total solar eclipse is the result of the Moon passing between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk.
Niagara Falls is in the direct path of the 2024 eclipse and will experience a 100% total solar eclipse, making it a prime location for viewing. By comparison, much of the rest of Ontario including Toronto and the GTA will only see a partial eclipse.
Niagara is not expected to witness this rare event again until 2144 making it a bucket-list experience. In fact National Geographic has added this event and Niagara Falls to their Best of the World List for 2024
The eclipse will last from 2:04pm to 4:31pm, but the highlight will be the total solar eclipse from about 3:20pm to 3:23pm, 3.5 minutes in duration.
Highlights of this solar event in Niagara Falls include:

-Constellations, stars, and planets will be visible during totality
-Temperatures will drop as the sun is shaded by the moon
