Winter Festival of Lights Niagara Falls

For 40 years, the Winter Festival of Lights in Niagara Falls, Ontario has captured the magic of the holiday season. With more than 75 illuminated displays, and 3 million lights, the festival transforms Niagara Parks, Dufferin Islands, the Niagara Parkway and the surrounding tourist areas into a Winter Wonderland. The Festival has become a winter tradition for over 1.5 million visitors annually.

Overview

The Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights allows people to get into the spirit of the season by walking or driving the 8-kilometer illuminated route, with displays lighting the night in Dufferin Islands, Queen Victoria Park, and the Niagara Parkway when it takes place from November 12, 2022-February 20, 2023

Fireworks Over The Falls

The festival will mark the 40th anniversary with 40 nights of spectacular fireworks displays above the Falls. Displays will light the sky on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm during the festival dates and over the Christmas holidays. Two displays are scheduled on New Year’s Eve; 8:00pm and 12:00am.

  • November: 12, 18-19, 25-26 at 8:00pm
  • December: 2-3, 9-10, 16-17, 23-24, 26-30 at 8:00pm
    December 31 -New Year’s Eve:  Two displays – 8:00pm and 12:00am
  • January: 1-7, 13-14, 20-21, 27-28 at 8:00pm
  • February: 3-4, 10-11, 17-20 at 8:00pm

Hot Chocolate Trail

Indulge in the festival’s sweetest new event, the Niagara Falls Hot Chocolate Trail. Warm up with a cup of the decadent drink as you explore the illuminations. Participating Hotels and Restaurants throughout the tourist district will be featuring specialty flavours like Candy Cane, Peanut Butter and more. Some venues will have spiked versions featuring flavoured liqueurs and add-ins. View Participating Locations

40 Nights of Family Entertainment

In celebration of the 40th anniversary, Winter Festival of Lights is marking the tradition with 40 nights of FREE family entertainment. Fun and interactive shows take place from 6:00-9:00pm on Fridays & Saturdays throughout the Festival and daily from December 23-January 8 (excluding December 25 & 31). Shows are at Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls-Fallsview on Falls Avenue and are FREE and are available to all visitors. Shows will also add to the excitement of Family Day Weekend February 17-20.

Pricing & Passes

There is no admission fee to view the illuminations, but donations are accepted by Festival Ambassadors at the exit of Dufferin Islands (suggested contribution ($5 – $10 per car; $1 per coach bus passenger), with proceeds used to enhance the lights and displays.
