Tour des Trees kicks off in Niagara Falls

Keep the lake on your left.

That’s what the 100 cyclists taking part in the 22nd Tour des Trees were told before beginning their 941-kilometre trek from Niagara Falls, through New York around Lake Ontario, circling back and finishing in Toronto.

Mary DiCarlo, communications manager for the Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund said the week-long ride, which began Sunday morning with riders crossing the Rainbow Bridge, is the world’s largest fundraiser for tree research and education.
