Karate masters visit Niagara Falls

This past weekend the Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls – Fallsview was host to the Miyagi Chojun Festival, where Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati took part in a training session with a 75 year old 10th degree black belt.

Around 300 karateka from more than a dozen countries are gathering at the Crowne Plaza on Falls Ave. this weekend. The festival, which began Thursday and concludes Sunday, is put on by the International Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Federation. The festival is an annual private function that brings karate students of all levels together for a series of seminars and social activities. The event is part of a series of worldwide events conducted by the IOGKF “bringing technical excellence to willing students,” regardless of belt rank.
