The Battle at the Falls wrestling event in Niagara Falls is turning into a celebration of a sport that is on the International Olympic Committee’s chopping block.
The event, to be held Friday, May 31 at the Gale Centre, will start at 2 p.m. with a two-hour wrestling clinic, featuring past Olympians such as three-time medalist Tonya Verbeek. Following the clinic will be dual wrestling meets pitting the Ukraine versus the United States, Canada against the Ukraine and Canada versus the United States. Interspersed in the international meet will be demonstrations involving athletes from the Junior Badgers wrestling team.
