Canada Day moves downtown, entertains thousands

For the first time in 30 years, Niagara Falls Canada Day festivities took place downtown — not at Optimist Park.

And for the most part, people who lined Victoria Ave., Valley Way and Queen St. to watch the parade were not disappointed.

At one point, between 15,000 and 20,000 showed up, estimated the city’s community development co-ordinator Lori Albanese, which was higher than last year at Optimist Park.
